antony & the johnsons

wow. i was pretty enthralled last night at their show. i have more than a huge crush on antony it's more like...i want to go inside & look around & sit in that presence of his for awhile. i was pretty enraptured last night. rare is the musician/singer that evokes instant tears, and he is one. his music & voice are powerful, beautiful, evocative, wondrous & elegant. the show hall was super terrific too (mason center) -- and his band? impeccable. so, so fantastic. if you get the opportunity, go see him - you will not regret it. & if you don't have his music, go get some right now. right. this. instant.

i was so content last night to absorb him up. it was a killer evening.

new favorite resin ring/beneath my feet....mini update

this rad ring is from molly proctor on etsy. she's got some good looking resin! this has tiny embedded mushrooms from california in it - and the text? perfect! i love this new ring & knew i had to have it as soon as i saw it.

i had a dream that mushrooms, along with bees (if we can save them from dying off) and apple cider vinegar to heal everything will save us all. isn't that funny?

besides the fact that i think mushrooms are going to save the planet i also have been loving the shitakes i've been getting at the farmers market - yum, yum, yum!! i've been going weekly to the market, most of the time with mati & sometimes with shash - & occasionally one of my sweet neighbor girlies will tag along too. we've been having brunch afterwards & are hoping to do more of this in the plannings of our community garden! (eeek! i'm so excited about this!!) this past saturday my friend sarah & i went dancing first & then to the market. after that, we meandered around the flower/plant garden store. it was a lovely morning!

i've been daydreaming about our europe trip this summer & searching out paris rentals & getting soo soo excited to be over in europe-town again!! i'm ready to get out my books and start scheming a tentative plan. we know london will be on there because we fly in & out of there. venezia for sure to see the biennale, and perhaps slovenia. (then...?? who knows!)

let's see, we've also been rearranging the studio (when are we not?) and will be putting new cabinets that the mister is constructing up in my space to keep some of the overflow tucked behind doors.

we've got some exciting plans tucked up our sleeve regarding our space and art & i'll tell more about that when we can firm up some plans and a schedule.

the rainy day yesterday resulted in a dee-lish slow food day; eggs florentine for brunch, & autumn soup (my papa's recipe adapted for the veggie -- potatoes, carrots, leeks, onions, chopped tomatoes, herbes de provence, bay leaf, splash of olive oil -- top with parmesan cheese......YUM!) & my mama's buttermilk biscuit recipe sub in some whole wheat white flour instead of all white, plus steamed artichokes from the market. our neighbor brought over chocolate zucchini walnut muffins with a hint of chili pepper & some homemade ginger scones. gah! we had a fest of eating to be sure :)

this week promises to be major full as well. we are seeing several shows with the noise pop festival & going to southern exposure for a drawing rally/opening/fund raiser & game night is this weekend too! i'll report back soon on the festivities!

hope all is well with everyone & a special shout out to my best lady j in ole virginia who needs an extra squeeze. i love you girl, hope things are on the upswing & i've been thinking about you.

elizabeth gilbert is my third lady!

elizabeth gilbert, author of "eat, pray, love" gives a great, great, GREAT talk on creativity here --seriously, make a mug of tea and pull up a chair & listen to her speak to you for 20 minutes. some things come along and are reinforced throughout my life and this talk cemented yet again, what i think about being creative beings. my first lady to do this for me was madeleine l'engle, my how i love that woman and miss that she is not on the earth with us anymore. second lady for me, anne lamott. elizabeth gilbert seems to be homing in on a close third.

...hoping for spring no doubt! loads of new ceramic good luck birds are up on my site. need someone to have a little spot of luck? these guys and gals are pretty perfect for a pick me up. need one for your pocket because luck is a little fleeting right now? or tuck the little ones under your pillow and hold fast all night through some dreaming. i have one on my computer at work, one on my dresser and one or two in my studio hanging out. bringing me luck? surely!

little ole blog, i'm so sorry. i fear i've been squandering my time over at facebook/timesuck/crackbook. i'll be better. i don't enjoy you less, in fact, facebook makes me a little bit more crazy and a little bit more scattered and just that much more addicted to the sound bite life rather than the, tea-book-sun-gaze-hike-about-lazy-wander life which i'd rather be involved in.

i'll get back into you. you are my first love - before flickr, before facebook, before my absent minded hyper saturated computer nonsense took over. i'll be coming soon. you wait for me okay?
