ps - my hip momma
she scored a pair of new diesel jeans at the thrift store today for $3.99!!! that's one happenin' almost 60 momma struttin' around in her new diesel jeans!!

so, i'm just now coming up and breathing from last weekend. my oh my. the heat just about did me in, for realz. i had a wonderful pre and post rcf as well with my friends from twospace and my new lovely friends from india romeo. we had cocktails, stayed up on roofs to watch the city sunsets, looked at art, walked across the williamsburg bridge down in the village, ate yummy sushi, laughed a lot, had our pictures taken in an old b&w booth, got completely worn out both days of rcf, lots o' dirty park feets, many wonderful people and smiles, & chatted with other business owners -- slaughterhead, ifn' books and marks, super maggie, green girl art, the small object...and of course i was right in between twospace and india romeo, wonderful booth mates for sure -- i'm sure i'm forgetting some more peeps i chatted with...and some i just don't remember the names of their very cool businesses.
let's see, we went to the MOMA (for free night - hoorah!), the international center for photography, bryant park, the chelsea galleries, rode the ferry around staten island (free!) meandered around red hook and watched the sun set behind lady liberty (i love red hook; we decided this is where we would live in one of those rad old brick industrial buildings were we to move to ny; which we are not - never fret dear san francisco, we aren't leaving you anytime soon!), we got our nft book (thank you c. & i. for pointing out the need of the nft book; not for tourists ny guide) and felt rather proficient at navigating the subway by the end of our stay. we met up with so many friends - virginia was in the house big time. we also got to stay with my dear friends in brooklyn the last night. (the ones with that cutie bug boy in my previous post).
this is what i decided about nyc. and i think i come to this conclusion each time i'm there. i love it, but i love san francisco more. much more. nyc is vibrant, alive, crazy, dark, dirty, huge, amazing, hectic, stimulating, and almost makes me a little crazy...we would definitely be brooklyn-ites if we lived there. the vibe in san francisco is just my style. more mellow, just as much to do that interests me, beautiful and bright and just as alive and exciting; with the added bonus of slipping out of the city to any kind of nature your heart craves in very little amounts of time. i love that about sf. so once again, nyc was great, but was happy to go - but am also just as excited to go up and visit again soon!
since my arrival back here in ole virginia town, i've been literally trying to do a lot of nothing. watching movies with the parentals (my mr. is back in sf for the week), (we've seen 'match point', 'shop girl' - loved it and will watch it again & again i'm sure - and we've seen 'skeleton key' and lots of british mysteries; my papa adores those) , hanging out with my almost one year old nephew (very cute, pictures of him to come too), reading through my ibs cookbook so i can figure out my digestive world better and get that nasty stress out of my life which is affecting my eating world wayyyyy toooo much, i've been sleeping in - glorious sleep how i love thee, i've been checking in with my mail and meandering around to all the blogs i like to read that i've been neglecting, soaking in the the good ole a/c since it's hot as ass here, chit chatting with my grammie, and basically recharging my batteries. ooo - i also went thrifting today -- not really any scores, but that's okay, first runs can be tricky - one orange and pink striped shirt; very cute, and one striped robey type deal to throw over my suit after swimming - got a coupla fun osh kosh overalls for the nephew and one *totally* adorable jack and janie vintage inspired dress for my friend i'm seeing tomorrow! so a good run, just not fantastic yet...
it's been good --- soooo very good this last week....and more of just this is on my plate for the summer! yay!
tomorrow i go visit one of my dearest, most lovely and true friends, ms. jooooooooooooo - she's got 2 cutie bugs and i'm going to get to meet the newest; i'm so thrilled! (and also b/c finallly, there is a GIRL amongst my friends' kiddos!!!!)

safe and sound...
...in virginia. still being production girl; a few days left to prep for renegade. once i hit ny though, which is wednesday evening, no more for me. what's done is done! started new eating regime for this girl (concerning ibs and some other not so lovely things, i'll spare you the deets). needless to say, i might be one level of stress less; like if my stress levels were akin to the national security levels, i might be orange, not red now. my aim is to be the absolute lowest when i touch down back in SF at the end of the summer - what is that, like blue? that's my goal. my friends grabbed a big ole bag of vintage fabrics for me at a garage sale yesterday; some cute stuff is in there; but it needs a good washing and air out; then i can play around with some of it! so my scores have already begun; many more are to be had; i can feel it!
the wedding was lovely - it's always interesting when 2 people come together; you have this amazing mix of people and 1/2 of them, most of the time, don't even know each other -- it's a strange dynamic to know someone soooo well (in my case the bride) and her man, who i sort of know, he's lovely too, but i don't know *any* of his friends - and we are all so very happy for them, jointly grinning and satisfied at our great people coming together; but it's still odd to be like, huh, who are you?!
we shot some photos but with my interim camera - i did finally get one - but i kid you not, all the photos are coming out blurry on me; and it's NOT me, i swear. it's that stinky camera. i didn't lose my touch that easily...so we'll see if i keep the interim camera...but i need an uploader to iphoto b/c i don't have one of those yet....but i may get a few up before we leave for ny insanity!!!!
off for now and back to making (well, if you must know, it's 11:20am here and i'm still in my pj's!!) ---- so really i'm off to shed the bunny slippers and get some cute threads to throw on! ;)

sprout studio break time (a mini one) (just from blogging) (never from making!!)
so, i'm flying east on thursday. in between sewing up a storm and packing all my goodies (b/c the mr. decided to *drive* east 2 days ago! eep!) (he better make it for the wedding...) i won't have an abundance of time for posting. but, i'll get back on the blogging wagon soon. saturday is another wedding for us of really wonderful friends that we don't get to see enough b/c we live on the west coast and they are on the east coast. but we also will get to see them in nyc b/c that is where they are spending their honeymoon and we'll be up there renegade-ing and art-ing it (and cock-tailing it) with our other lovely twospace and india romeo friends! hoorah for ny!
also, i'm compiling a list of some summer reads to check out at the local library while i'm in norfolk - any suggestions for me? some fav's of mine are mark helprin, anne lamott, madeleine l'engle...
the other fun things on my to do list are to experiment with the gocco, find fun vintage-y cool things at thrift stores, lounge at beach, learn to surf, drive on beaches in north carolina, eat yummy foods from grill, swing in a tire swing from big magnolia tree, take out friend's canoe at dusk each evening to watch sunset, wear lots of anti-mosquito bug spray, camp out in hatteras, play with nephew (who turns 1 the day before i turn 32!), go find lots of art to look at (which could be challenging in norfolk, so i'll be broadening my spectrum), write and sketch in journal for me and for sprout studio ideas, sit in lawn chair while sprinkler waters greeney grass, plant tomatoes in my friends garden and EAT them all right off the vine, drink lots of iced tea while porch sitting on all friends porches (that are all huge and marvelous in virginia), do lots of yoga, take lots of photos, do lots of wandering, de-stress, de-toxify, hang out with my momma & papa, hang out with the in-laws and other assorted relatives, and last but not least, try not to miss my crazy dixie-loo loo too overly much as i'll get all teary not being with her for 2 whole months...boo hooooo. (but she'll be with the best people ever taking care of her) (but i'll miss her sorely)...
so, for now, i probably won't be posting until sometime late this weekend - maybe i'll get to shoot some party wedding pics...we'll see (or maybe i'll just surprise you and post some nonsense anyways!)

first thursday, owls, line art...
went out to first thursday last night. when most of the galleries stay open later and have new art to show...this is what i liked! i'm off to another opening tonight and hopefully i'll shoot some fun stuff there to show and tell also. i'm a busy bee this weekend; it's my sewing weekend ahead...i'm bonding with that needle and thread machine over there...it's beckoning me to come and caress it's pedal alllllllllllll day long!

weddin' singin'
so i went to an absolutely lovely wedding this weekend; back in virginia. i love these two people. and he sang to her; "it had to be you" for the toast...it was quite wonderful! outside in an arboretum, under a chuppah handbuilt by the groom plus friends...words from 3 different couples about marriage at 3 different stages in life...worth feeling completely off right now for flying east and turning around and flying west!
time ramps up now to super high speed, more friends in town & cleaning ensues for the subletter, and more production and more packing to go east in 8 days!! eep!

i've been prepping like crazy since i walked in the door yesterday after work. making making making...i feel a little like my eyeballs look like the cheshire cats in alice in wonderland...know what i mean? they are all like spinning around in this psycho way...
today i cut out millions of glass pieces destined for necklaces, bracelets, rings, magnets, pins....!
after that, i hit the sewing machine to applique myself into oblivion!!!

salami neck meat...
this post is for my virginian meat lover boy in the house. so i'm riding on the bus home, after a long day. i'm trying to go to my meditation zone, back of the bus, loud, SCREAMING obnoxious kids...eyes shut, sunglasses on, breathing..........when what to my wondering neck should appear? but 3 salami slices stuck to the side of my neck & ear...salami neck meat. crazy children have thrown salami at me. at my neck. salami neck meat kinda day. of course i am obviously a little stressed and strung out b/c instead of ignoring, or simply removing the salami, (which would have been the wise thing to do), i throw it back...i have sunk to their level. not only do i throw it back, but i begin to yell too...loudly. and then i stand up, on the moving bus, with salami stuck to my neck and yell some more. these punk kids get up too, yell back, try to steal my bags, and start to threaten me...lovely. and what do the other bus passengers do? nothing. not a thing. they all stand there and stare at this going down. so i have to crawl around the threatening large throng of kids with salami stuck to my head and get up to the front of the bus, which is like a mile away b/c it's one of those busses that kink in the middle and then keep going, all the while, kids yelling, throwing, people watching, me screaming, "bus driver, bus driver, excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, BUS DRIVERRRRRRRRRR!" the kids of course scram off the back of the bus as soon as i make it up to the front and tell the driver to get these kids off b/c they are throwing SALAMI (i don't even eat meat, i rather abhor it - my friend j. says i summoned the meat gods...) at me and threatening me...
needless to say, not a great day. and candy kid b. ---- not the best jenifer day. ;( boo hoo. i need a cocktail.
at least tomorrow is friday. & this weekend brings TOTAL sprout production time...

rollins rocked my world
i truly loved him. laughed. cried. nodded my head vigorously for a couple of hours. he was wonderful. and we got a picture of him holding our gnome...more on that later...hee hee!

trunk show, rollins, a gamillion house guests???
so, i feel a little like my world could spiral out of control. trunk show this evening (as yet, i sit at work and am a little unprepared...eek), we leave for big sur tomorrow to go see henry rollins (the mr.'s idea...i think it should be good) - but it's going to be an all male trip + me...we know how that goes, i'm very familiar with this kind of a trip, most of the time it involves loads of skateboards and stinky pad paraphanalia...no such goodies this time. but we are all camping saturday night in big sur which should be nice. come back sunday to building bbq and showing our place to subletters...so it's not very clean now and i'm not quite sure how clean it's going to get by sunday...another eek.
let me just tell you this: we have a houseguest/assistant to the mr. for a big shoot coming to stay tonight. we have another houseguest/helper to the mr. coming sunday night. then they are here for FOUR weeks - pretty much until we leave to go east for the summer. then, we have a lovely couple coming to stay in our absence over memorial day weekend - we will be in norfolk, va for another wedding, and 4 people who don't really know one another (except for the couple) will be staying in our place - ha! they'll probably have a big throw down party and have a better time than when we throw them and are there! okay, after that, the tuesday following memorial day i have my 2 best girlfriends flying out with their THREE little boys between them to stay also - and also until we leave for the summer; so count them...in the span of 4 weeks there will be NINE people in and out of our house - this includes kiddos, which is another ball of wax all together.......oh my. the two of us, 2 guys, 2 other females and 3 little boys allllllllllll in our open plan loft...i guess it's going to be like a big ole grand camp out or something in our place.........
...and then there is this pesky, minute show i need to prepare for which is RENEGADE!!!!! - the biggest show of the year, when pray tell do i produce for that???!!

tatoo's, summer, friends, subletting.
i really think i'm going to do it this summer. i've been saying it since before the late 90's. a tatoo. i am so inspired by so much good lookin' art on people, i have to get some of my own...i think this summer might be it. & i'm leaning towards some margaret kilgallen art...oh, i'm going to have to be so brave, but i think i can do it. commitment in that area is what i become leary of...maybe for my birthday. for number 32. i should *get* the number 32 tattooed in red somewhere, within a little star. that would be nice...plus a little margaret art somewhere...hmmmmmm...

and d) dragging arse today something fierce!!
we had tofu pups wrapped in jalapeno tortillas at 9:30pm standing up before we flopped over - romantic anniversary dinner eh?! ah well...it's worth it; i love seeing all that art that they made throughout the year, and to see it all in one big room, all framed and presented like a mini gallery - it makes me really proud of them, and proud that i am their teacher! and exhausted after hanging, tagging, framing it all!
now, i'll try to get back on track of showing off some others great finds in the indie world very soon!

kitty chill
more product styling at a friend's house...that her kitty in the background. ms. dixie-loo likes these kitties A LOT - she is sooooo very curious about them. they are quite tolerant kitties!
and regarding styling; it was super fun to go to someone else's place and style stuff with their goodies in their house with my products...made me be more creative. fun!

well poop.
i was gonna post a bunch of photos from our little southern trip (not all the way to l.a., sorry c ;( - but fun nonetheless) but darn old photoshop won't open on my computer and the mr.'s is still at the doc's...so. alas, no photos again. what a boring blog i have! arghhh!
this week is probably going to be a low posting week (ha, what week isn't you say?) but i'm putting on my school's art show, as this is what i do for my other job (teach, not put on shows!). so i'll be super fly fly busy...
but if the computer comes back, i'll try to post some fun photos...or i'll dig into some archives and see what i find! that could be potentially scary!
good to be back in s.f. i got my calendar all set with every date known penciled in so i can let my brain relax a little.

i think we are heading south...
possibly tomorrow. hopefully tomorrow. i want to drink cocktails with my down south friends (no, not you candy kid; maybe in a few years!) and check out my goods at OCMA, which seem like they aren't doing so well. so some investigative work is in order. i still need to post those noise pop shows, but there is some sad sad news here; the mr. sprouts power book has to go into the doctor; it's totally sick and broken - ticking like a time bomb broken. he's pretty discouraged. and my pictures were on there! so, it will be longer until pictures get here.

letter to the weather.
dear mother nature,
i really do love you. really i do. but i need you to stop this nonsense with all this rain & gray skies & 40 days/40 nights stuff because i am really truly just *over* it. completely done. stop teasing me. you gave us two hours of glorious sunshine on thursday out of gabillions of wet days and pouring nights and then snatched it away. ha ha you said, i am wicked mother nature and you will suffer with even more fog and even more liquid air and cloudy cloudy clouds alllllll day; even on the weekends. whilst prancing east coast friends are admiring tulips and azaleas and other lovely budding peeking cute green things and gloating incessantly about 70 degrees and sunshine...argghh... dear old M.N. - knock it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

started out good...
...ended up bummy. my day. up late, (well, 8:30am, late for normal) my first day of spring break, hoorah, stayed in pj's till mr. sprout threatened me to get off computer (b/c i still had to do sprout studio work....hello!), that was about 11:30, showered, hum hum hum...all fine...put yummy swaddlespa sweet orange shea butter cream all over, (i love this), went to exploratorium with friends who have 3 kiddos...seemingly a good idea (theie kids are dolls) but what was not so grand was realizing that i wanted to get *away* from crazy screaming kiddos as that is my life on a daily basis. so, not so good. left exploratorium (like a sciencey, art place) and decided to go see friends we haven't seen in ages, they have a baby now. that was good. cutest baby ever. ever. bluest eyes, just like his papa. very mellow. fun to visit and the sun actually popped out for a few. that was good too! came home, the mr. goes to work on vw's and i settle in to gather up my wholesale accounts and get them ready to post in the a.m. get on computer, good news! i've secured a fabulous place in brooklyn with wonderful friends to stay with over the renegade craft fair weekend, this is *very* good news. now, it goes downhill. i have a lost package to a customer and the whole situation, it's making me very sad & frustrated that they don't have what they ordered. so that bummed me out. then, i start looking at other people's blogs...(i should have just gone about my business, detached myself from said computer and acutally went to work on sprout stuff...but nnooooooo) i had to start blogging around. you know i have a problem with this. i have blog envy. i have confessed this before. but ya know, the root of it lies deeper than that. not just blog envy, but everything that the bloggers site that i check get accomplished...i feel like i'm sludging through molasses or something...they are all like, "oh, after i went to the gym this morning at 6am and had my green tea, i wanted you to look at this cute thing i made this morning, and this adorable thing i whipped up right after that, and then i decided to make this fabulous creation right around lunch time, & i made a fabulous homemede lunch of soup and crackers from scratch and then i churned some butter, and then, i painted an awesome little piece in the afternoon, walked the dog, cooked a meal, read an entire book, planted my garden, made a stuffed doggie toy, wrote a book review, and then decided i'd sew up this lovely little pillow here, and while i was at it, cross stitch this cool thing here, sew up a plushie stuffie right before dinner, drink some wine, watch tv and stay up until, oh, 2 am and make this amazing dozen cupcakes *and* cookies, and while the oven was hot i tried a new recipe for zuchinni bread too, right after that i sewed up this great handbag out of this vintage fabric i found at my thrift store run i did today right before cooking this 8 course dinner, then right before i brushed my teeth and jumped into bed, i did yoga and leg lifts and sit ups...and then i got up at 6 am all pert as can be...i love life.,,....." sheesh ah meesh...are you kidding me?? i must sound snarky and awful...but sometimes it's all i can muster to feel good about getting out of bed, taking dixie loo out and accomplishing two whole things on my to-do list. i dunno. anyone feel less than accomplished sometimes, or do i just need a continual drip of caffeine & high-on-life something to get me through..."ugh" is all i have to say at the end of this day....

taxes are done done done, fini, final & i could NOT be more happy!!
and to tell you what we did owe (shizzers shikey shiver the timbers...) to what
we do owe; you would know we used some *serious* prestidigitation! (heh heh...
go look it up!!)
but last night was looking like some hari kari was going to happen around these
parts...tonight, sushi & sake baby (well, veggie sushi for me!)
big huge sigh of relief. now, onto those wholesale orders. & i want to experiment
with my gocco next week and my stack of vintage fabrics i've been hoarding...we'll
see what comes of it!

pictures coming. & guess what?
it's still raining. like. still. as in, grey, gray - & i feel like i'm living in portland. and one of the main reasons we haven't moved up there is b/c of alllllllll the rain. i don't mind it so much normally. but now i'm just done. we broke some record - it raining 27 days out of 31 or something like that. huh?
