we got to camp out after the first night of the treasure island flea. it was a beautiful evening. so fun & such an amazing view.

i had the opportunity to go see rufus wainwright at the henry miller memorial library last weekend. he was AH-mazing. picture that beautifully voiced man, in purple cravat, plaid long sleeved shirt, multi-colored crocheted vest, bright electric blue pants, singing & playing under the redwoods & stars to an intimate crowd of maybe 100. SO good. i clearly have a soft sweet spot for gay men who play the piano & sing their hearts out (see, my love for antony brings me to *tears* you guys).
this video is a nice example of what i saw; he was funny, sweet & clearly jovial/giddy because he was on his honeymoon with his "bunny" - i fell a little bit more for him. so darling. (& don't you love those pants he's wearing in this video?!) his voice is just enthralling to me.
if you get the chance to see him; DO. you won't regret it.
we had a great time at my class this past sunday at teahouse - thank you so much to all the fun ladies that came out & got their vintage bead love on with me :)

my necklace class at teahouse studio is coming up fast - 9/30, from 1-4. we'll be making two seed bead necklaces from all my vast collections of awesome vintage beads & we'll make two hair bobs; either barrettes, bobby pins, or one of each - again from my extensive collection of cute vintage beads & buttons :)

yes i am. there is not too much that gets my heart racing like a good thrift run. i have a special one i love that is close to me. i think it's fair to say the regular customers there clearly are not looking for old flower mugs, 60's dresses, funky old thermoses & wacky ceramic vessels like me. my local thrift also does not have rolling carts, just hand baskets, which gets cumbersome & makes me a wee bit cray cray when the gets are good & my hand basket starts to *overflow*. then i have to text the mister & tell him to GET. DOWN. HERE. now & help me carry all the loot!
sometimes at my local thrift potentially creepy/charming (hard to tell?) men walk by you slowly, look you up & down, & tell you, 'beautiful face on you' --- slighty unnerving, another reason to text the mister stat & have some reinforcements come down.
this is a typical loot run; where i hyperventilate because i'm afraid other people are throwing that stuff into their basket as quick as i am.
the hardest part is coming home & figuring out what i will keep in my collections, & what will be go out into the world for the gleaner project & fly away to another treasure collector.
i am a thriftatholic, & it does my heart good.
my first foray into selling all my collected treasures in public went well - thank you so much for coming out & saying hi & supporting my gleaner habit! it is actually very hard for me to let go of all these gorgeous pretties that i have lovingly rescued from sad shelves in far flung thrifts across the nation. a piece of excitement in the find goes with each item into its new home.
i'll be out at the treasure island flea (hopefully) in october with my full set up again. hope to see you then :)
