the big fun news, plus advice!

SO, way back when in september i had said i had some big fun news to share, but couldn't in case the mister was sneaky & looked on the blog. well, the secret is out & about & it's time to share & get feedback, advice & what not. in june & part of july we will be going abroad, europe, for FIVE super fun weeks!! we will fly in & out of london & stay with a friend (our very own sfo to london gal) for a bit of that time who has generously said we could. now, of course i want to hear from everyone what their great adventures have been, recommendations, tips, tricks, etc...but first & foremost, i've been searching endlessly for the perfect bag/tote/carry all, what-have-you for the day trips. we won't be burdened down with ALL our gear b/c we'll be able to stash some with said friend (who i will be bringing treats to & jars of that delish p.b. you can't get over there!). i'm trying to project what i'll need to be carrying (camera, snackies, water, journal, passport, $, maps, etc...) so do i go with the over the shoulder bag? the carry on the shoulder tote bag? should it have a zipper to keep everything in & possibly anyone out? should i get a backpack? what would be the most comfortable? my shoulders tend to bug me if i haul a lot of crap around...of course, i'll need something cute though! so i need some suggestions...fire away! :)

i love this tote from wise walker at the container store. i have it for my laptop, but there is a compartment for everything you can imagine. umbrella, water bottle, passport, etc. it probably isn't enough room for everything you'll need, but they have other products at the container store made by the same company. and i bet they are equally cool. the photos on the site don't do them justice, becuase they don't show all the features. but if there is a container store up there, stop by and see what they have in the store!

The healthy backpack from LL Bean is what I use. It's really comfortable, and it only uses one of your shoulders, so you can switch it back and forth.

Thanks for commenting on my blog! Our art studio is in the American Industrial Center at 3rd and 20th. When we're all settled in I'll invite you over!

WOW! How exciting! Your very own 'Grand Tour'. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time...I've never been there, but try checking Budget Travel magazine for some good info - they pick some fun things. As far as a tote...I wouldn't be happy with a backpack b/c I'd fear someone snatching something out of it, but you could get tiny little locks for it (yes, I'm odd). That might be the easiest, most practical, and most comfortable option. LLBean has some great stuff.

Whoo hooo! Start buying up those memory cards for your digicams!
