go see *this* movie...or, better yet...just listen & read...

so for new year's eve day we went to go see "walk the line" - the new movie about johnny & june...anyone that knows us...well, you know we love them. so it was a must see...and you'll know how busy we've been when you know we *just* got to the theatre today to go see it. it was totally good...i just love them and was so sad when june passed away...and of course, johnny just couldn't do it w/o her and had to leave us too.........

if you don't listen to their stuff, do so. it's wonderful music. all of it. them together, just her, just him...and carter family music. wonderful.

so. happy *new-new* year...2006!!!!!!! good golly...march is going to be my 1 yr. anniversary for sprout world and celebrations & happenings are a-brewing and a-swirling about in my brain...more about that later for sure!! (a special treat for *all* who have ordered from me in the last year - yahoo - it's a secret till march!)

we are off to watch fireworks from the top of our hill as long as we don't fall asleep first...ha. right now we are both in front of our macs w/ ms. dixie-loo smooshed in between...happy computer vegetable family....me blogging, bl photo editing...hehe...

if you're a lucky duck, we'll post some fireworks pictures over the bay bridge...we'll see ;)

*big ole sale a-comin'...*

...okay, on the way, as promised, is a big sale -- some stuff until it sells, some stuff for just a bit...lots of earrings & 15" necklaces for sure...probably some paper goodies too...stay tuned...

it's about that time...

...for a new little post...been a busy queen bee packaging up orders and getting ready for the next 4 shows i'll be doing! the next 2 weeks are going to be *crazy* for me...i'll be super happy for a little respite when we are due for some down time!

...around the studio/home...we are going with a live tree this year: meaning, friends of the urban forest, a group here in sf, will drop off a live tree for your holiday and pick it up and plant in a neighborhood around these parts...! how great is that? no chopping down trees for us (although i have enjoyed that immensely in the past, and we were seconds away from doing just that this year) there is something in me that is quite joyously happy about our live tree that will continue to live after we are done holiday-ing & being super festive with her...we picked an olive tree - so pretty! i can't wait to get her and decorate her with all my funky handmade doo-dad ornaments!

...picked up this totally cool nature encyclopedia from the 20's today - i want to do a serious of these illustrations cut up and colored perhaps, and then destined for glass pieces...there are some really cool ones...i'm not near my camera or i'd shoot some pics for ya...later maybe (i know i promised pics before...sorry!)

...let's see...going to go out for roasted dungeness crab & garlic noodles this week...we have a house guest and apparently, we are super behind in things we were supposed to have already done while living in sf - which is eating dungeness crab and garlicky noodles...eh well...that's why house guests come...to make you do all those touristy things in your own town you never do...i'll let you know what we've been missing out on...

...got a good deal of wool roving sent to me by another crafter that had too much...i'm so excited to try and felt with this stuff - i got a book too - "simply felt" - which should help me nicely on my way...i love trying new things!!

...and let's see...i'm going to post links to fabulous things that i want for the holidays so you can see all those amazing indie designers that are out there...no, no, not so you can buy them for me, but so you can be green with envy too!! (tee hee) ...& once i figure out the linking deal, which thank you so much to my new u.k. friend ;) i should be well on my way to mastering this blog -- ha ha!

things i'm thankful for...& the yummy *menu*

...where do i even start? let's see. maybe broader thankfulness is better...& these are not in any order whatsoever...

*my family -- they are wonderful & in virginia ;(
*my friends -- spread across the country, and globe...i wish i could be near them always.
*my little business sproutland venture...it wipes me out, & brings me lots of joy & stress - i love it!
*my 'real' job -- i do love this also. most of the time. my students can be quite obnoxious, & then say the best things *ever*
*my doggie -- dixie loo is about the craziest darn thing that's happened in my life lately - & i adore her!
*living in san francisco -- the best weather, the best scenery, the best goings-ons...& i get to still be here; yay!
*let's see...the roof over my head, a few pennies in the bank (& i do mean a *few* - ha!), & the plentiful food of which too much goes into this here belly...
*geez...i could go on forever...reading good books, perusing good books, buying good books to have & to hold...music fit just right for your mood...looking at art, finding art, making art, being around art.
*& i'm thankful for the my most favorite person...mr. sproutland...bxlx...love him. couldn't make it w/o him.

there ya have it. & now on to that yummy menu, of which, too much will be fattening up my buddha belly...

here's my overly ambitious menu -- to start: pumpkin bread in the morning (from scratch of course...), apps: stuffed mushroom caps, almond covered cheese ball w/ stoned wheat crackers, tomato & feta & basil toothpick snackies & the wine starts now too!...the courses: broiled wild king salmon w/ lemon, olive oil & old bay seasoning, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, sage & pecan stuffing, fresh green beans w/ dill butter, acorn squash, rosemary-cheddar cheese buttermilk biscuits...ending off: pecan pie (okay, bought this one from whole foods - it's dee-lish, i already had a piece...shhh...), lemon tartlets - making these from scratch...gold coast tea from the u.k. ;) yum. i'm full already! followed by a healthy long walk down by the bay bridge!! & then a HUGE nappie...

...i will also be introducing my new apprentice & sous-chef in pictures to come...until then, have an absolutely fabulous thanksgiving!! mwah!

change of seasons/light...cc cookies on tinfoil...& the beastie boys...

& just what do all of these things have in common? well, it's super dark earlier now and this always makes me have conflicted feelings...i love all that soup making, tea drinking, bundling up, starting a fire goodness...but then, i get tired soooo darn early...like my biological clock changes a LOT...hibernation i think...

i just made some chocolate chip cookies that i had whipped up earlier in the month and froze...what a novel idea...pop them in the toaster...yummers 15 minutes later!! (but stuck to the tinfoil...but who's watching me bite off the bits from the foil?!)(haha)

& in my valiant effort to stay up past 9:35pm i'm eating cookies & listening to "you gotta fight, for your right......" yup.

studio clean up, major shift. major chat about staying on top of these updates. i hereto promise that within 2 weeks there will lots of fun new lovelies on the site. pinky swear. hold me to it.

another exciting thing that will be happening is launching "Adopt a Site" where i'll be featuring indie sites that you should check out! this will be rotating once or twice a month...stay tuned...

i'm also finding out about 2 more possible shows i might be doing in december...i'll let ya know!

i can't even begin to say the number of times i've run out of gas in various volkswagens in my life. seeing as how i started my driving career at 16 with a light pink vw bug and i am now 31 (ack!) i'll let ya take a little guessie all by yourself.

...& surprise, guess what happened this morning, on 3rd street, in the middle of the downtown financial district in san francisco, during the morning rush hour?!! oh yes, out of gas, lots of pissy people...we're taking up their lane and "little girl blue" has run out of gas. see, apparently i'm the one who gets to remember the number of miles we are allowed to go and if i forget to remember...well, you know.

now, as crazy as that is, here's the good part. thank you karma & angels for shining on us. as we are pushing little girl blue off to the edge of the street, what to our wondering eyes does appear, but a lovely gentleman mechanic with none other than a coffee mug size "VW" tattoo on his forearm. excellent. he lends us his gas can (as we scrounge around for no such thing, which normally lives allll the time in the bug...) we walk walk walk, get our gas...and i'm late late late to work. but, that's okay. it could have been crazier...(like that time we ran out of gas on the bay bridge...patty?! or, that time on our way to fresno...jb/kb?!) haha...won't give you those right now!

anyways...in sprout studio news, we photographed a bunch of shirts, new necklaces, felt pouches and a coupla bracelets. i also found out i'll be doing a benefit show for the san jose shelter - "ladies night out" a pre holiday event. it's in belmont. details to come. i'm also going to apply to the bazarre bizarre in l.a. that one's in december. and one more, decemeber 17th, 2-7pm holiday cheer, open house, trunk show in my building! mark your calendars and come on out my friends!

if you'd like to be a sprout studio trunk show host (who receives 10% of all sprout sales towards their own goodies - ooh la la) just give me a shout! we'll set one up! (but ya gotta be one of my california chickadees or...what do you call a boy chic?!)

anyways...had 2 yummy margaritas celebrating another girlfriends birthday and i'm off.......

not so sure about this book...

i'm reading "the time traveler's wife" -- anyone else reading this too? it received such good press and reviews...i'm about 1/2 way into it & to be truthful, i'm just not sure yet about the hype...maybe it gets way better...

watched "a love song for bobby long" (i think that's what it was called) -- heads up, don't bother. the book was probably worth it, but not the movie.

waiting patiently for my episode 1 of six feet under to turn back up at the video store so i can catch up on it...

cleaning up my sprout studio world this weekend and building a loft in our place, perhaps when i figure out posting pictures i'll show ya what i'm up too...also on the agenda, homemade veggie soup, ginger banana bread (new recipe) and walking in the park with ms. dixie-loo if that darn ole sunshine will peek back out that's been in hiding here in SF for too long.
